The Different Styles of Kawaii

Dear  Kōhai,

Today, I am going to give you the basic styles of Kawaii! I don't have a really big introduction! So, let's get to it!

By looking to the core of Kawaii, which is brightness and goodness, not every style considered by some to be Kawaii is considered by all to be Kawaii. These are the 3 most popular Kawaii styles!

Loilta Kawaii
Lolita Kawaii

This is the most popular Kawaii Styles as of late is Lolita. Lolita styles are focused on the Victorian Era of clothing. It is often a very modest fashion with knee length skirts and petticoats. Lolita girls often look very doll like. There is a light Lolita called "Sweet Lolita" and a darker Lolita called "Gothic Lolita." The clothing is very much the same-the big difference is the color and types of accessories. Gothic Lolitas are more prone to wear crosses and coffins, while Sweet Lolitas will wear cuter things like fruits. Gothic eye makeup is dark, while Sweet makeup is brighter. Kawaii is usually just called "Lolita" or "Gothic Lolita," because it derives from styles worn in the Gothic period of the world. Baby doll types of Kawaii often fall under this kind of category because the clothing style is very doll-like. Fairy Kei is part of this style!

Emo Kawaii

Emo style is lightly "goth," focusing on darker colors (in clothing and makeup), rebellious attitudes, dismal interests, and darker and more hard-core styles of music and entertainment. They often sport skulls and cute creatures made to look more crazed or scary than actually cute on their clothing and accessories. Emo style isn't void of "cute" things, but their accessories are like a black bow versus a pink bow-a cute object, but with an Emo twist of color. Many Emo's like to wear bright colors, including pink, but their bright colors are often, if not usually, coupled with a lot of black in the rest of the outfit. Like most styles, Emo has it's levels and not every Emo person will look just like the next in the depth of their darker look. Emo hair styles are often cute, but some can also be more extreme. Rather than going for nice and girly with waves or curls, their styles tend to be more peicey and spiked, and hair is often a darker color.
Emo Kawaii

This style comes off of the unpopular Japanese Kawaii Styles of Guro-Kawaii and Kimo-Kawaii, I believe People remixed it to be kinda of accepted by Japanese Society because that really look horrible as hell! But this style is where i see cultures mixing American with Japanese!

Shibu-Kawaii
Shibu-Kawaii

The 3rd Style is Shibu (Casual Kawaii),I think this will suprass Lolita style in popularity, because you can wear this everyday without going to the extreme. Shibu Styles usual sports very natural makeup, most of it being some type of bb cream or foundation and concealer, after which light and often neutral colored eyeshadow is applied to the eyes, followed by some liquid eyeliner to the upper lashine. The clothing is more low-key than some of the other Kawaii styles, but the look is still distinctive. Often fashion glasses are worn-with or without lenses-as well as dominant hair accessories, animal backpacks and sweaters, as well as a tasteful amount frills. Bright and pink versions Kawaii styles usually match this kind of image.

I hope that this was helpful!

If you practice these styles, pllllllllllllllleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaasssssssssssseeeeeeeeee, send me pictures that I can post up!

Kawaii, Kawaii

Dear Kōhai,

Today we are going to talk about the many styles of Kawaii. Who is the most famous Kawaii of all times, what sites you should be on, AND what shows to watch!

It might be a lot, because this is the most popular style, but please bear with me!

Let's GO!

Who is the most famous Kawaii ever?

Charuca! Is the most famous Kawaii! Actually, she is an Artist and Fashion Designer that took Kawaii into the mainstream! I couldn't find any pictures! Sorry! Just look up her up and, explore her website! I was surprised to find that she was White! But I guess culture vultures are everywhere!

What websites should you be on or looking at?

I am Black, so I lean more towards my culture, I have many groups, websites, make up tutorials, and blogs to look at! I am not going to tell you any because I want you to only come to mine (yes, this is a hint of jealousy but I don't care!)

What shows to watch?

Ouran HighSchool Host Club:

The story of Ouran High School Host Club revolves around a smart girl named Haruhi Fujioka who, by her own merits and determination, was able to get a scholarship at the elite private school known as Ouran Academy. There at the Ouran Academy, while looking for a quiet place to study, she stumbles into an old music room where a group of boys who call themselves the Ouran Host Club hold their meetings, and she accidentally breaks a renaissance vase worth eight million yen. Tamaki Suoh, founder and self-proclaimed president of the Ouran Host Club, mistakes Haruhi for a boy and orders her to become the Host Club's "dog" (i.e. errand boy) in order to pay off the eight million yen. And so begins the story of the Ouran High School Host Club.
My personal opinion it is great but the ending leaves you hanging in the balance!!! (Must see if you are a Kawaii guy and/or Dandy!)

Peach Girl:  (I think Gyrau!) but many will disagree with me!

Adachi Momo is a girl whose tanned skin and bleached hair gets her into all sorts of trouble with those who assume she's a tanning salon-hopping tramp. It doesn't help that her "best friend", Kashiwagi Sae, couldn't be less of a friend. Sae is constantly stealing Momo's fashion sense, and Momo trys to avoid mentioning her crush on Toujigamori "Touji" Kazuya (can't have Sae stealing her hopes of dating *him* too, right?)  In doing so, Momo gets caught in a lie when she points to a random guy and tells Sae she likes him. Turns out he is Okayasu Kairi (Kiley), a smart-mouthed joker with a playboy reputation ... who sees right through Sae and immediately starts going after Momo's attention.  What sort of mess has Momo gotten herself into now?

My personal opinion: Sae should have gotten her ass beat!

Fairy Tail:

In the land of Fiore, magic is everywhere. Sorcerers are like skilled tradesmen who band together in "guilds" and take on paying assignments for non-magic wielders, like hunting monsters, retrieving lost items or running odd errands.

Lucy is an aspiring wizard who wants to hook up with the coolest guild around, Fairy Tail. One day, she meets a red-headed boy who saves her from a unscrupulous

wizard, and before she knows it, she's introduced to the wild and wacky band of wizards of Fairy Tail and begins the adventure of a lifetime.

My personal opinion is that everyone is always stuck on Lucy's boobs. I haven't finished because Youtube is an asshole!

Lucky Star:

Having fun in school, doing homework together, cooking and eating, playing videogames, watching anime. All those little things make up the daily life of the anime—and chocolate-loving—Izumi Konata and her friends. Sometimes relaxing but more than often simply funny!

My personal opinion it is has no plot! It is exactly like when I was in highschool having fun with the girls! (WARNING: DO NOT WATCH IF YOU ARE EXPECTING SOMETHING DEEP BECAUSE IT IS NOT THAT TYPE OF SHOW! TRULY THIS SHOW IS THE EPITOME OF KAWAII)

Top Kawaii Anime Shows To Watch!  Click on that link to get to a list with all types of Animes for you to watch!

For EXTRA CREDIT! Post which ones you like and why?

I hoped that I helped you a little more! Tomorrow we are going to get into the different Kawaii Styles that are out there! Which one I like the most and, where to get your gear out! I have to cook lunch for my son! So....

History/How-To Kawaii!

Dear Kōhai,

I have been getting a lot of questions on how it is to be Kawaii...I was going to save the best for last but to hell with that!

I am going to dive into the BIGGEST AND MOST POPULAR SUBCULTURE IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD FIRST!

It is going to take me awhile to give you all the information that I know...so keep coming back to my blog and checking out my posts!

In this post, I am going to give you the history of Kawaii and my how-tos on the Kawaii LifeStyle!

Let's Get To IT!

History of Kawaii

Kawaii means lovable, cute,  adorable and/or Radiant Face, it is the quality of cuteness in the context of Japanese culture. It has become a prominent aspect of Japanese popular culture or (JPOP), entertainment, clothing, food, toys, personal appearance, behavior, and mannerisms. The Kawaii Lifestyle is, also, slowly but surely, seeping into American Culture (for those of us in America).

The word "kawaii" originally derives from the phrase 顔映し, which literally means a "radiant face", but more commonly referred to the blushing of an embarrassed person

But do not confuse with Hawaii or Kawaiisu, or the Island of Kauai, it is a common mistake for Akachan (means Baby) Kawaiis (newbies).

Here Are Some How To's For Being A Kawaii

Be positive! Cute people are always fun to be around, and spread their joy for life to others. A cute person's warmth should be able to fill a room and should be felt from a mile away. If you want to improve your positive nature, there are a few things you can do:
  • Smile. Do not look like a goof when you smile; just smile like you always do. Be cute and happy, but not over the top!
  • Laugh heartily. Laugh to feel good, laugh to cheer up others and laugh with others. Make sure not to overdo it. Most people find excessive laughter annoying, not cute.
  • Have fun! Everyone likes a person who is fun, social, and outgoing! If you're hanging out with people, tell silly jokes, or play fun games.
Be demure! Shyness isn't a bad thing. It gives you a mysterious edge. If you're shy but approachable, people will keep asking you questions and will want to get to know you more. Shy, but sweet and bubbly people are absolutely adorable. Remember that you can maintain a positive vibe and be friendly while being demure at the same time. Here's how to do it:
  • Talk softly. You should still be able to firmly state your thoughts, but your voice shouldn't be heard from two rooms away. If you talk softly, people will lean in to hear what you have to say, and that will make you even cuter.
  • Act very innocent. Don't be overly vulgar or engage in conversation about inappropriate topics. Cute people are shocked by some of the more unseemly aspects of life.
  • Don't dominate a conversation. You can still be smart and state your opinion, but cute people let other people talk too.
  • Learn to blush. If you blush because you're a bit embarrassed or shocked by a particular topic, you will look very cute.
Be friendly! Cute people may be a little bit shy, but they are always friendly to the people they know and the new people they meet. Cute people are approachable and people always want to get to know them. Here's how to be friendly while being cute:
  • Be interested in others. Attractiveness comes from being happy, vivacious and bubbly. This translates to being a person who engages others in conversation, takes an interest in what others say, and shows a genuine concern for the other person's interests.
  • Take the time to really listen to people. Active listening is a very important part of appearing attractive to others.
  • Give compliments. Everybody loves someone who sees good in others and makes them feel good. It can be a great conversation starter sometime too.("Where'd you get your shoes? They're so cute!") Just make sure you mean it; say it in your normal tone of voice, not a squeaky, overenthusiastic one.
Have a cute face and cute hair! Your face will be the first thing people see and it can go a long way in showing people just how cute you really are. If you want to be cute, you should make sure to wash your face and hair as often as you need to, and to always look clean and have a healthy glow. Here are some other things you can do:
  • Wear minimal makeup. While a little bit of eyeshadow or pink lipstick can help you look cute, you should focus on having a natural appearance. Decide carefully how much or how little makeup you think is appropriate, especially if you are a boy.
  • Have soft, natural-looking hair. Your hair will look cute if you don't straighten it too much or douse it in oily products. Let your hair dry naturally and fall at your shoulders, or wear it in two loose ponytails.
Have cute clothes! You don't need an entire wardrobe makeover to look cute. Having just a few key cute items and wearing them the right way can help you put together your cute appearance. Here are some tips for wearing cute clothes:
  • Wear a lot of pastel colors. A light purple, pink, or shade of blue can give you a softer and cuter look.
  • Wear cute skirts instead of pants when you can.
  • Don't wear high heels. Instead, wear cute clogs or sandals. Paint your toes a cute color.
  • Have a cute cardigan to wear over a white tank top.
  • Dress comfortably. Cute people should never look uncomfortable in their clothes. Wear comfortable clothes that fit your style, like a pair of form-fitting jeans that are not too tight, but then again, not too loose either.
  • Don't dress provocatively. Showing your shoulders or calves off is one thing, but wearing clothes that are too tight and showcase too much of your body will give people the wrong impression. Exposing your bra straps, showing too much cleavage, or wearing skirts that are too short or tight is not cute.Wear just a tiny bit of blush. This will make you look even cuter when you blush for real.
Have cute body language! Cute body language can help you project your cute look. The trick is to not be too forward, but to move in ways that are just plain adorable. Here's how you can have cute body language:
  • If you're standing, shift your weight from one foot to the other.
  • If you're sitting, keep your feet together and keep your hands in your lap.
  • Play with your hair.
  • Use eye contact. Eye contact is a way of engaging others directly. It shows interest, it shows that you are attempting to bring this person into your sphere and keep him there. But don't forget to look down at the floor or at your feet once in a while to show that you're a little bit shy.
  • Don't touch the person you're talking to too aggressively, but remember that giving the occasional light touch on the shoulder or knee will be just plain cute.
  • Cover your mouth when you laugh. When you cover your mouth with your hand as you laugh, it shows a sweet, cute, and slightly timid side of you.

How To Live This LifeStyle!

untitled

Hi  Kōhai (means protégé),

In the post, I am going to discuss what it means to be in the LifeStyle...all the do's and don'ts and what I think is just plain silly!

Are you your lifestyle choice?

I choose to be an Galang because it fit my culture. Dandys are an African subculture that was invented in Africa (not the name Dandys but the subculture. The Dandys want to bring back a more cultured style to Black People. Dandys combat the Hip Hop subculture, sagging pants are a no-no!) I like the song "Galang Gurl" by TKO. I am always on style and feminine so this fits me very well! A plus is I can purposely wear pastels (which are my primary favorite colors)! The only thing that is very hard to do is to decorate my house because I have a son and, I date. So, I always have to keep that in mind.

Do you even know what style you want to do for life?

If you know what style you want to do for life! Keeping reading my blog because I will tell you how to be able to do it well into your Senior years without people thinking that you are immature and childish!

Do you know the history behind your style?

There isn't much history with the Galang , let alone, Adult Galangs. I am a Pioneer in this Subculture! I will teach you what it truly means to be Galang! I am fortunate because this is mainly a Caribbean style that hasn't been discovered and made trendy. I am Cuban/Haitian so I have many ties to the Caribbean community. Aside from that  Kawaii, Ulzanng, Living Dolls and Dandys already have a vast history so, just googling will get you in the right place! All you have to do is just google it and, keep reading my blog!

Do you know how to embody your style?

Galang are for the girls, teens, women, and or men that like be on trend with fashion but still how on to their own fashion sense! I love to wear pastels! I love to wear Light Colored Purple hair, I love wearing unique things, and, I like to walk around and have people see me. I love taking pictures with people who are fascinated with my style! I love to educate (which you will do a lot when you take on your lifestyle) people! I love recruiting people into my lifestyle! I am Galang is the shit! Really it is! Studying up on how to embody your style makes it easier for you to recruit people into it, end stigmas around your lifestyle, and make it over fun for you and those around you! Plus, PASSION is away attractive!

Do you know how to look, dress for and act your lifestyle?

Galang, Kawaii, Ulzzang, and Living Dolls all mean two words "CUTE FACE". Doesn't matter if you are Black or Dark (I will get into these later) but you will have to wear makeup and wear cute clothing! This will bring out all of your feminity (for women) and for men...I personally say be Dandy...I just am in love with a Proper Gentleman...period makes my hears skip a beat...
You_Make_My_Heart_Skip_A_Beat_by_looceh
Anyway, take my word for it because if you do not know how to look or act people will know and call you a "poser" or "fake" and, will kick you out of the community

Last but not least!

Are you having fun in your lifestyle?

If you aren't having fun with your lifestyle...simply quit! All the rest of us are! So, don't ruin it for us!
I hope that you enjoyed my post, Kōhai!
